What welding technology is available?
Welding is a joining technique that uses heat, pressure or both to permanently join metal parts together. There are various welding techniques that use different equipment and processes. These are the most common methods:
MAG welding
In MAG welding (metal active gas welding), a wire is continuously inserted into the welding point and coated with a gas mixture. The gas protects the weld seam from contact with air. This process is very fast, distortion is low and the amount of work required after welding is minimal. MAG is therefore particularly suitable for welding steel and stainless steel together in large quantities.
MIG welding
MIG welding (metal inert gas welding) also uses a wire electrode, but a pure shielding gas such as argon or helium is used. This prevents the welding point from oxidizing during melting, resulting in particularly clean seams. MIG is stable and can be easily automated. It is therefore ideal for stainless steels and aluminum in modern production lines.
TIG welding
In TIG welding (tungsten inert gas welding), a solid tungsten electrode serves as the arc source, while inert gas provides protection. Because no welding wire melts, there is almost no spatter and very fine seams are created. TIG is perfect for thin sheets and components made of stainless steel or aluminum, such as those used in medical technology or pipeline construction.
Plasma welding
Plasma welding is similar to TIG welding, but works with a concentrated plasma arc. This is created by passing a gas - usually argon - through a narrow nozzle and ionizing it with an arc. This creates an extremely hot and stable plasma jet that hits the workpiece with pinpoint accuracy. The process is perfect for narrow and deep weld seams with minimal heat input and demanding applications. It stands for the highest seam quality with low deformation.
Laser welding
In this innovative welding process, a focused laser beam fuses the workpieces with pinpoint accuracy - without any direct contact. The heat-affected zone is very small, which means that the area surrounding the welding spot is hardly heated at all. This makes extremely precise welding possible, resulting in very thin weld seams. Laser welding is usually used when high speed and low distortion are required - especially for assemblies and series production.
Welded constructions and welded assemblies
Schnelldorfer Maschinenbau develops and manufactures customized welded constructions and assemblies that are precisely tailored to your production processes. Whether individual modules or complete system solutions - our modular approach offers maximum flexibility and efficient series production. You benefit from solutions that can be perfectly integrated and adapted.
-
Customized welding assemblies
Based on your drawings and parts lists, our welding engineers design individual assemblies made of steel, stainless steel or aluminum. The use of materials, clamping fixtures and welding strategy are optimized as early as the planning phase in order to keep heat distortion as low as possible and seam quality consistently high.
-
Modular construction methods
With the introduction of our LINEARWELD modular systems we have been offering customizable longitudinal seam welding machines since 2016, which can be converted to new components at lightning speed thanks to variable clamping widths, tube diameters and adjustment options. Our CORNER ONE Corner seam and ROTAWELD Circular seam welding machines: Standardized basic units are combined with specific clamping and guide modules to precisely weld even complex geometries.
-
Complex welded constructions
As a full-service provider, we realize turnkey welding constructions including controls, robot integration and peripherals. From transport and assembly racks to welding lines with several stations, we supply high-quality, component-guided constructions. Final functional and leak tests as well as detailed documentation round off the service package and guarantee you the original "Perfect Weld Technology" directly from Schnelldorf.
No matter how individual or complex your requirements are - with Schnelldorfer Maschinenbau you can rely on innovative welding, maximum precision and sustainable quality that sets standards.

Which materials are used?
Our production includes steel, stainless steel and aluminum and guarantees optimum material input for all component geometries thanks to precise process control.
- Steel: Unalloyed, carbonized or galvanized - with our MAG and MIG systems for sheet thicknesses from 0.20 mm to 15 mm, we can weld any steel economically and with low distortion.
- We prefer to process stainless steel using the TIG and plasma process in order to create a minimally sharply defined heat-affected zone and thus seamless, corrosion-resistant welded joints.
- Schnelldorfer Maschinenbau joins aluminum using inert gas-protected MIG and laser welding systems, which preserves the material's characteristic lightweight construction and corrosion resistance.
Our convincing combination of in-depth material knowledge, state-of-the-art production technologies and an experienced team ensures precise workpiece quality at the highest level - from one-off production to large series, Schnelldorfer Maschinenbaus stands for uncompromising quality and competent welding.
Quality and certification
At Schnelldorfer Maschinenbau, quality is no coincidence: we are an ISO 3834-2-certified welding company and produce EN 1090-compliant steel and aluminum structures of consistently high quality. Regular TÜV audits confirm the qualifications of our teams, while as a member of the DVS we benefit from the latest welding procedures and training courses. For final quality assurance, we also use non-destructive testing methods such as ultrasound, X-ray and leak testing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9712. This enables us to guarantee that every weld seam is really tight and stable.
